Music This Week Mar 26th thru April 2nd

Hey there,
I survived Springfest!!! This was a real tough one for me. Two minutes before
Jonathan Scales Fourchestra started to play (the band I was there to record and
was most looking forward to hearing) I got a phone call letting me know my dog
Giggles had quietly passed away. After the initial shock, I started down the path
most people go after loosing a loved one, I started berating myself for not being
there with her at the end. I then talked with a dear friend who is a vet. and she
explained that Giggles chose her time to depart. A time which would cause me
the least pain and suffering. I am sure she knew how excited I was about the
Kenosha shows and Springfest and didn’t want to ruin that. She knew she was
with the person who loved her the most next to me and I was in a place
surrounded by music and in a healing place so it was time for her to go. I thank
you Giggles for all the Love and Happiness you brought into my life. I am
definitely a better person from knowing you. Happy Trails.
Now on to the music. I am totally exhausted from 600 miles of driving, 4 days of
partying and around 40 hours of recording. I am also excited about doing it all
over again next month at Wannee.
Tons of great music this week. A lot of Out-of-Towners with The Expendibles
from California traveling the furthest to bring music to us. Please make them
welcome. I’ll be there tomorrow night @ 40 Watt.
Tonight I’ll be at Steve Coughlin and Driftwood @ MP then will try for Andrew
Gialanella, Nic Wiles and Drew Hart @ GATH rooftop.
Please join us at Terrapin Fri. at 5:30pm for a fundraiser featuring Jube and The Morning After and Tealvox for the 35th Athens Human Rights Festival coming up May 4th & 5th. Admission is FREE but tour and tasting is $10. As always we would greatly appreciate any donations you would make.
Finally, I have a Facebook page(or more correctly my website has a Facebook page):
traditionally I send out my weekly email and then I get emails back telling me
about the shows I missed talking about in the email. I than have to send out an
update email. If y’all would go to my Facebook page and post anything I missed
on the wall there I’d greatly appreciate it and won’t have to send out updates.
BTW I still don’t use my personal Facebook page, I only made it so Facebook
would let me make the LiveMusicAthensGA page. Please don’t send friend
requests to my personal page as I don’t use it and won’t see them and I don’t want to offend
anyone that I haven’t accepted their friend request. Thanks.

Tonight, as I mentioned earlier, I’ll be @ MP and GATH rooftop. Wed I’m starting back on the GATH rooftop with Kinky Wakiki before going to the 40 Watt for the Expendables. Thurs as always on the last Thurs of the month, I’m at Hendershot’s for the Odd Trio a definite Don’t Miss, then I’ll try to make Thayer’s show @ Flicker. Fri starts with another Don’t Miss Tealvox with Jube and The Morning After opening at Terrapin for the AHRF fundraiser, not sure where I’ll go after that (I’ll try to get in Cine to record but it is sold out, hopefully room for a taper) but I’ll definitely be at another Don’t Miss, Lazy Locomotive at Farm to close out the evening.  Sat I’ll try to catch the show at Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall before heading to World Famous for High Strung String Band, then to Nowhere for the new lineup of Albatross. Mon is another Don’t Miss with Big C’s Blues Night. Tues I want to check out Ben Miller Band before Fester’s Confessional.
I hope to see y’all at the shows.
Peace and Love,
