Music This Week June 12th thru June 18th

Hey there,
I’m still somewhat braindead from this weekend. If I missed some
shows, my apologies in advance. Thank you to everyone who helped
and attended the 35th AHRF. I hope to have the whole festival posted
by tomorrow. The double rainbow Fri. was definitely a good omen, the
weather was great. I am disappointed we still didn’t have a drum circle
to help drum up the stage. I can’t believe it would be so  hard to find
drummers in this town.
Thank you to whoever recommended Boycycle. I really enjoyed their
show last night at the Hoot. Check them out at Athfest.
Speaking of Athfest, if I survive it, I am going to drastically reduce my
recordings. I am going to concentrate on taking the web site to a new
level. I will concentrate on finding ways to generate income from the
site. This income will be for the musicians, not for me. For me this
always has been a labor of love and I don’t want to loose my amateur
status. I also don’t want to turn what I do into a job. I need to show
income so I can be considered a viable business by David Barbie and
hopefully get some interns to help. I would appreciate it if anyone would like to put in a good word for me with him. What I have done with the site in a year is nothing compared to what I intend the site to be, it is only the tip of the iceberg. I would love to turn the recording
over to someone who understands this is hard work, not as glamorous as I make it appear. You are anchored by the recorder and spend a lot of time keeping drunks from knocking over the recorder. Please contact me ASAP if you think you are serious about doing the
This is a sad week in a way, one of my most favorite venues is moving. Hendershot’s will be closing Sun so please stop by and say farewell to one of the best listening rooms in Athens. They will be moving to the Bottleworks and hope to open around July 1st. By listening rooms I mean not just the room acoustics but the clientele as well. You didn’t have to listen to some drunks in loud voice talking about petty office politics or the misfortunes of their lives. People were there to listen to the music. This was part of the magic of Hendershot’s and I sincerely hope the tradition continues in their new home.
Finally, we have some great out of towners, the Former Champions from Richmond, VA. I highly recommend them, they are playing a free show next Tues the 18th at GATH rooftop at 10pm. Here is their new album FX Machine in its entirety including the first single “Journey”: .
