Music This Week July 24th thru July 30th

Hey there,
I thought I’d start something new, my highlights of the last week. My favorites were Lazy Locomotive for a great show closing Farm 255 and Stokeswood was also a great high energy show. The most fun show was Camp Amped, hot sweaty and buzzing with energy from 11 to 17 year old musicians. When is the last time you heard an ocarina? Check out Loop Dog. I also captured a rare recording of Dan Nettles singing Yellow Brick Road in the finale. Then there was seeing Kelly beaming after Ty asked her to marry him while onstage at the 40 Watt.
My personal high was when I finally got to listen to Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band at Aura. Check out track 9 in it the bass player asked me to help him over the security fence into the audience. He then has us send energy out into the universe. I was next to him and we were the focal point of that energy. The rush was amazing, I tingled from it for hours after it happened. When I heard the recording of that for the first time I felt the same rush!
I can’t wait to see what this week will bring.

The only thing I am certain of is my Don’t Miss of the week, Cosmic Charlie. I will definitely be there Fri. Tonight I’ll probably be at the Confessional. Wed I’ll bounce between GATH rooftop, Nowhere and Green Rom. Thurs if I’m in townI’ll be between Slopfest and Albatross. Sat I’ll probably still be recovering from Cosmic Charlie but if I’m in town definitely Lazy Locomotive. Mon is Davell Crawford then Kenosha Kid. Tues probably the Confessional.
A quick update, this one is not my fault, Flagpole didn’t have this in their online listing. I saw it while checking on Cosmic Charlie start time.
Randall Bramblett & Ike Stubbliefield’s Funky Soul Summit @ GATH
Thurs Jul 25, 2013 at 8:00 PM  $10
I did miss listing Tealvox, Claire Campbell, and the Honey Sliders shows on Fri and Universal Sigh on Sat due to space in email.
I also didn’t tell y’all about last night. I stopped by Nowhere and I saw Sam Bellflower. She saw my AURA t-shirt and immediately tells me about seeing Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band there and that she had a great photo of the magical moment I told you about in today’s email. She didn’t even know I was at that show much less in the center of it. Strange things seem to be normal for me. I’ll pass along the photo when I get it from her.
I hope to see y’all at the shows.
Peace and Love,
