Music This Week Jan 6th thru Jan 12th

Hey there,
I hope y’all had a safe and happy New Year. I had a fantastic time NYE and the day before as well. I thought I had timed things wrong for my New Year’s ritual. I always try to take out my brain, dust it off and blow the cobwebs out for New Year’s Eve. The day before was Kenosha Kid’s show. I knew something was up when the band members were dressed in all white. I was thinking I needed some squirt guns filled with brightly colored ink to break up the mono color outfits. Then the projector came on. What a fantastic idea to use the white outfits as a screen for the projections. I have posted the show so you can hear one of their best shows but definitely keep an eye out for the video they made, the visuals really enhanced the show. On NYE I was at The Globe for what IMHO was the finest noodling of the year with Breathlanes. This is the 3rd year John Miley has done a NYE show and I hope he continues it as this is a definite DON’T MISS show. It’s posted, hear for yourself, also know that it was the bass player Zack Milner’s first time playing with the group. There was a lot of magic in the air. BTW my drive home would have made Jack Kerouac proud.
Two events of note this week. On Sun at The Foundry is Planting the Seed a benefit for  Seed Life Skills, a living curriculum dedicated to empowering youth to be sustainable stewards of food and financial resources. On Tues next week at GATH is a Battle of the Bands benefit for Breast Cancer research.
On a side note, the holidays bring a lot of the extended Athens family back to town. It was the first time I saw Matt, Will and Gabbie Shirley together. I am convinced they came here through the wardrobe from Narnia.
