Music This Week Feb 10th thru Feb 16th

Hey there,
I was near the end of a four day recording run at Hendershot’s when someone knocked oven my recorder and broke it. It was on the bottom where it mounts to the tripod so I was able to jury rig it and complete the show. Thanks to the inventor of duct tape. (If the Pharaohs had duct tape, the Sphinx would still have its nose). I’m now scrambling to find another recorder since it is only three weeks before I’m heading to AURA Music festival in FL. I have all four nights posted since I can edit them visually and I have to do shows like Fillmore Athens audibly. I hope to have the Fillmore shows up by the end of the week as well as last night’s fantastic Sweetheart Duets HOOT. A major bummer there, I am unable to retrieve Sarah and Darrin Cook’s set from the recorder’s SD card. Not only are they two of my favorite people in Athens and incredibly talented but they did Bike my favorite Sid Barrett song. Another reason you shouldn’t rely on me to record great shows like that, you should be there in person.
Time to start bugging y’all about creating a logo for the 38th Athens Human Rights Festival. The winning logo will be printed on our T-shirts and will be the backdrop for this year’s stage. It will also be part of the 38 year history of the festival, something to add to your portfolio. Meetings are 6:30 every Thurs. at Nuci’s Space. The Festival always needs volunteers to help. Areas of planning that need volunteer help are: speakers, music, the festival paper, selling ad space, fundraising, social media and set up and take down. If you are interested in being part of the 38th AHRF, come join us!

A lot of great music this week with WSP and DBT but I’m looking forward the most for Dark Star Orchestra. It was over five years after Jerry Garcia passed before I went to a live show and it was DSO at GATH.
My life is so crazy. Just as I am writing about the DSO show I get a call from my friend Joanna telling me about the Midwinter Naturist Festival near West Palm Beach the 11th thru 16th. Now I have to decide between a fantastic show or running around a beach naked for 6 days. I may be Florida bound. If another friend in the FL Keys comes through I may not be back until after AURA.
