Music This Week Aug 5th thru Aug 11th

Hey there,
I’ve finished posting the whole Orange Blossom Jamboree and am working on Springfest, Magfest AURA and a private festival. There was so much going on I missed Jerry Jam and Jerry Day in Atlanta but did catch my favorite Dead band Cosmic Charlie for Jerry’s birthday celebration. What a fantastic show (it is posted as is last night’s Big C’s Blues Jam, also a fantastic show).
I just found out that all four of the remaining Grateful Dead members will be at Lockn’. I have been so busy I haven’t had time to even check out the lineup for Lockn’. I know Santana is also playing but that is all I know. This is the festival I sent my money for the ticket last October without any bands being announced, I knew it will be a stellar show. I can’t wait. There is still time to get a ticket for what I think will be the best festival of the year.
On the sad news side, Jon Stewart is doing his last Daily Shows this week. There is no hope for democracy actually working in America without someone like Jon shedding light on how incredibly F’ed up our political system is. I will really miss his wit, intelligence, insight and humanity. With the American voting public more interested in who is the best Dancing with the Stars or American Idol than the political future, he will be sorely missed.
We have the Girls Rock Athens Showcase this Sat. Definitely a great cause and show to check out.
Another thing to illustrate how busy I am is I found out last night about Aquarium Rescue Unit playing this Sat. Unfortunately it was an hour after they sold out. Anyone with an extra ticket for sale please let me know.

I’m still without a much needed clone. Wed I’d really like to catch Little Tybee but will probably be at Flat Land and The Space Time Travelers. Thurs I really want to catch the Maharajah Flamenco Trio and also Snap!, so I’ll probably set up a recorder at Snap! and go to the Trio show. BTW Snap! is there as part of the Old Skool Trio Presents series in honor of Carl Lindberg. Fri is of course Kenosha Kid. Sat depends on scoring a ticket for Col Bruce. Mon is the Hoot and then Muscle Shoals Monday. Tues is Pilgrim and The Arcs. Glad I’m slowing down!
I hope to see y’all at the shows.
Peace and Love,
