Music This Week Aug 21st thru Aug 27th

Hey there,
We have some awesome out of towners coming thru Athens this week. I highly recommend Earphunk and Lettuce on Wed. Drive-By Truckers Fri and Sat at GATH. Big Country is at Melting Point Sun. Check out Earphunk and Lettuce
Don’t forget Jay’s BDB, Jay Rodgers’ Birthday Bash and benefit for the Athens Human Rights Festival Fri and Sat at Max.
Several of my highlights from last week:
breathlanes was fantastic. Check the show out on my website and you will hear something typical of Athens. The band was trying to figure what to play for the second set, I walked by and just said Cassidy as a good friend was there and feeling down and I know she liked it. An impromptu  20 minute jam ensued. The good news is breathlanes is playing there again this De Palma’s on Timothy.
Taxicab Verses was a great show even though they only had 13 people on stage (about a third of the full band), they will also be playing this Flicker.
All 13 hours at New Earth on Sat. Most of it posted already. My biggest surprise was the Pink Floyd that Swamp Dogs played.
Hendershot’s 3rd anniversary party last night. Great music but I’ll never forget watching Seth go onstage with The Nice Machine to play theremin. They couldn’t get the theremin to work so instead of walking off stage Seth danced on stage. I hope someone recorded video of that, it was priceless. Definitely the highlight of my week.
