Music This Week Aug 28th thru Sept 3rd

Hey there,
There are those who talk the talk and those that walk the walk but few that do both. (I should know, I can’t tell you how many people have talked of helping me and I’m still doing all this solo). Jay Rodgers is definitely is one of the rare few who do both. Jay and I were talking the week after the 35th Human Rights Festival was rained out. I was bummed, we had done all the planning to put on the festival, the work to build the stage and take it down and all we had to show for it were the receipts for the money we paid for all the licenses, insurance, rentals, etc. Jay came up with the idea of a benefit. He told me that he and Ashley Revell would take care of everything, all AHRF had to do was show up with donation jugs and T-shirts. Jay is a man of his word. Jay and Ashley got the Max to host the event, did all the advertising and then got ten incredible bands to donate their time and talents for a two day event that also was an excuse to celebrate Jay’s 31st birthday.
We raised over $845!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who made this possible. Thank you also to the anonymous benefactor who donated $100 and to Adam Payne for his $50 donation on top of his talents performing.
It’s people like that and things like this that makes Athens the best place in the world.
My favorites of last week were of course all the bands at Jay’s BDB and benefit and breathlanes, Odd Trio and Baghouse.
