Music This Week Aug 31st thru Sept 6th

Hey there,
WOW Another fantastic Lockn’ festival. Four unbelievable Phish sets, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass and Grateful Gospel, two sets of Phil Lesh & Friend and My Morning Jacket to name a few of the nearly 40 bands. Unfortunately there were very enjoyable but very severe technical difficulties that caused me to miss recording everything on Thursday except Joe Russo. I am not happy with the quality of a number of shows due to the wind but most of it was fantastic. I’m sure I’ll be there for the next Lockn’! I am posting it now starting with Phish. Phil Lesh. Keller and Joe Russo and hope to finish before I leave for a private Reunion festival this weekend.
My biggest bummer of this week will be missing two of my favorite Don’t Miss shows, breathlanes and Jefferson Shuttlecraft. Y’all check them  out at Hendershot’s on Friday. Also we have two festivals this week. Hot Corner on Thurs and Athens Pride Downtown Festival on Sun.
I hope y’all have a happy and safe Labor Day!!!

Music This Week Aug 24th thru Aug 30th

Hey there,
Tons of great music this week. As usual I need clones to catch it all. Especially since I’ll be at Lockn’ with 30,000 others listening to Phish and about 30 other fantastic bands. I’m excited to see the new stage. A 60-foot-by-60-foot stage allows for two different bands to be set up at the same time. One performance will be on the front side, and the 56-foot turntable allows the stage to rotate when the next band is set to perform.
I’m really bummed I’ll miss Moon Taxi, Captain Green, Jim Lauderdale, the Wildwood Revival Americana festival and Adron’s beautiful voice and fantastic whistling.

Music This Week Aug 10th thru Aug 16th

Hey there,
Lots of great music this week with Popfest, Abbey Road live, Timi Conley, and Taxicab Verses to name a few. My problem is I’m an Olympics junkie (that’s why this post is late) and I may not make it into town this week.
I went to Broad River Fest last weekend and have it posted. Enjoy!
If you are tired of politics, skip down to the music recommendations.
Let me say that this is my one and only post in my blog like this. I don’t feel politics are appropriate for this blog. When it comes to politicians I’m an agnostic, I don’t believe in them. I have said for decades that we need a None Of The Above choice on our ballots. If None Of The Above wins we throw out the ones on the ballot and start over. I’ll bet the majority of people in both parties would like for that to already be in place.
You can’t believe how surprised I was that Trump actually said something I agree with, that the vote is rigged. The reason I said it is for decades the incumbents have been gerrymandering the voting districts and your vote doesn’t really count. The electoral college IS rigged How else does the most ineffectual, corrupt Congress by any measuring stick get a 90% re-election rate? I’m sure Trump said it to set up the excuses for why he will loose the election. He probably, like most Americans, doesn’t have a clue how the electoral college works.
Don’t think I’m for Hillary because I said this about Trump. I am for tearing down the whole voting system and creating a new paradigm.  We have the technology to create a system where every vote can actually count. Wouldn’t that be nice Bernie fans?
I have a lot more to say but again it is not appropriate for this blog. If you want to discuss this further I’ll start a new blog. Please let me know and thank y’all for letting me vent.

Music This Week Aug 3rd thru Aug 9th

Hey there,
The Cosmic Charlie show at The Foundry was fantastic as was their sets at Jerry Day in Atlanta http://livemusicathensga.com/jerry-day7-27-16/. Both shows are posted. My favorite was their jam during Terrapin Station 2nd set at Foundry, pure magic. I was talking with them about the problems the heat caused with their load in and outs. I bet they are glad they didn’t have to load this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUU8joBb1Q Wintergatan – Marble Machine (music instrument using 2000 marbles. I’ve never seen anything like it).
Or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBK2AF-NdVA This is Wintergatan a Swedish band I just found, they have been around since 2013, Check them out.
Bummed I missed Charlie Fog Band, my car battery died and I couldn’t get to town. I did catch them at Jerry Day.
Saturday is crazy with Girls Rock Athens, Stonerider and River Fest to name a few. I will try for River Quest.
