Music This Week July 30th thru Aug 5th

Hey there,
Alert! Tonight is the Delta Aquarid meteor shower. It should peak around 9:30 tonight (Tues).
Wow, what a great weekend! Back to back Jerry Days. Two days of one of my all time favorite musicians, Jerry Garcia. To top it off this Fri is one of my all time favorite Athens band, Cosmic Charlie at GATH. It is Jerry’s birthday and the bands 15th anniversary show. A definite Don’t Miss!
This video begs the question, is it a lap dance if you can’t find the lap?

Music This Week July 23rd thru July 29th

Hey there,
Once again I was blown away with the poise and talent of the kids at Camp Amped at Nuçi’s Space last Sat. Keep checking Youtube, it was recorded and you really should see it to believe how young the kids are. I have posted the show on the web site. I also posted Andrew Gialanella and Friends as well as Blues Jam with Big C.
We have two festivals this week I highly recommend. SKYFest at Nowhere Bar and Slopfest at Little Kings.

Music This Week July 16th thru July 22nd

Hey there,
AT&T finally got my Internet going again after working on the lines for about 4 hours. A good thing, I was starting to go into withdrawals after 4 days without it. Funny, I didn’t miss it during the 4 day parties.
This week we have the Athens Nurses Clinic Benefit, the Wildwood Revival Festival and one of my favorites, Camp Amped at Nuçi’s Space.
Good news, you get another chance to hear Andrew Gialanella play for free at Nowhere this Fri. It would be nice if you hit the tip jug, he broke a string on the last song at Blues Jam. BTW it is always nice to hit the tip jug as often as possible, maybe we can stop the tide of musicians leaving Athens.
Here is a link to an excellent interview with my friend Killick Hinds from the Prepared Guitar blog in Spain. Fantastic photos, artwork and music.  I highly recommend checking it out. http://preparedguitar.blogspot.com/2014/07/killick-hinds-13-questions.html

Music This Week July 2nd thru July 8th

Hey there,
I’m glad I’ve kept flexible. I sometimes have to turn on a dime. I was planning on attending and recording Mike Strickland’s going away party last Fri. Around 10 am Fri morning I got a call confirming everything was go for me to attend a very private 4 day party in the mountains. I was packed and on the road by 3:30. I got back around dark last night. Today I’ll unpack and dry out the camping equipment then tomorrow I’ll resupply and repack for another 4 day party starting Thus. At least my life isn’t boring.
I hope y’all have a safe and fantastic 4th!!!
BTW I forgot to give a shout out to George at Nowhere Bar for all the upgrades to the PA system, it sounds great.
Finally, a save the date; Aug 29th. The Fri before our first home football game (Clemson) we’ll have a fundraiser for the upcoming 37th AHRF. I haven’t nailed down everything, like a band etc. but I have set up that day with Terrapin Beer Co. so please plan on coming out. We had around 1000 people at each of the last two fundraisers I set up at Terrapin so lets set another record this year.
