Here is the inevitable update and Happy New Year!!!

Hey there,
Here is the inevitable update. My last email/blog covered thru Jan 7th but I just heard about this one tonight:
The Globe 10 p.m. FREE! 706-353-4721
BREATHLANES Athens musical collective playing organic, atmospheric improv. Featuring Luke “Gnarly G” Powell.
I will definitely be recording this one. I will still be bouncing around  most of the venues in town giving and receiving hugs.
You know tonight is the Superbowl for cops. Please don’t drive if you have had too much to drink, you know they are out in force. If anyone needs a ride I’ll be glad to help. I’ll be at the Globe or somewhere music is playing all night.
I wish y’all a safe, prosperous, happy and healthy 2014 filled with friends, music, laughter, light and love!
Happy New Year!!!
Peace and Love,
Kurt

Three presents for you

Hey there,
Merry Christmas!
Three presents for you. First and time sensitive; Lockn’ early bird tickets are on sale. They are normally $249 but with the promo code “locknlumni” they are $199. They were $300 at the gate this year. This is the ticketing link:

To get a feel of the scale of this festival
Me at WSP Lockn
This is one of my favorite pics because it shows the scale of the event. There are two stages side by side so you are only looking at less than half the crowd. Also if you look under his left hand the guy with the hat is me. I’m looking back at the sound stage where my recorder is set up, it’s about 200 feet away, the big tent upper left.
Me at Lockn2
This shows where I spent the festival, front row for the festival. You can tell it’s me, I’m wearing my 34th Human Right Festival T-shirt but my face is blocked by guy waving hat.
For more pics go to http://www.locknfestival.com/ hit Menu top right and go to galleries.
Next is music video of 16 year old singing Blue Christmas:
Finally, those of you looking for a white Christmas should check out this incredible snow artist Simon Beck:

Music This Week Tonight Dec 23rd thru Jan 7th

Hey there,
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or whatever good wishes appropriate.I hope your holidays are filled with friends and family, music, light, laughter, peace and love.
I am sending this out early because I had Hendershot’s  Cowboy Angel Christmas listed in my last post as happening yesterday not today.
This post also covers the next two weeks. I am not sure where I will be so I want to get the info out. Especially important to me is on Jan 4th @ 40 Watt is Garbage Island performing a tribute to a dear friend and incredible musician who passed away far too soon, Craig Lieske.
My favorite thing last week was Kelly and Ty’s wedding.
Suwannee Springfest tickets go up in price Jan 5th so get them now or make sure Santa knows about it. BTW ignore info on their web site about Magfest tickets. It is a mistake, I’m not the only one who makes them.
On the bummer side of things, I have lost the pole on one of my recorder stands. It is the one with the holster to hold the recorder that has been knocked over and broken and can’t be mounted any other way. I last used it to record St. Francis at the Green Room. This means I am down to two recorders. If you find it please let me know.
Here is a video I think you might like. It’s from a New York band Beecher’s Fault: youtube.com/watch?v=WBPVYfAPQJQ

TUESDAY NIGHT CONFESSIONAL Host Fester Hagood presents this week’s showcase of singer-songwriter talent, featuring Anna Hamilton and the Rick Fowler Band.

This is not a good time of year for me. My momma passed away on Christmas day so the holiday isn’t the same for me. I was always known for epic Christmas parties, many of them lasting until after New Years. In hind sight I think that those of you that have known me for years but can’t remember when we met probably were at one of my parties. You definitely lost brain cells if you attended. Try as I might, I can’t always shake the depression that sets in and I don’t go out. Therefore I’m not sure of my schedule.  I will be at Patton/Nelson this Sat and will try to catch Caroline Aiken and Randall Bramblett as well. If  I’m out New Year’s Eve I will bounce between New Earth and Caledonia. I will definitely be at Garbage Island’s tribute to Craig Lieske at 40 Watt Jan 4th.
I hope to see y’all at the shows.
Peace and Love,
Kurt
