Music This Week Oct 31st thru Nov 6th

Hey there,
Happy Halloween!
I’ll start with a reminder, Fri Nov 2nd, Dank Sinatra is performing @ Terrapin 5:30 – 7:30pm at the fundraiser for the 35th Athens Human Rights Festival. The only revenue we receive is from your donations so please be generous. We are providing the music for free so if you enjoy the show please show your appreciation in the form of a donation.
This is another really great week for music with too many choices. My Don’t Miss shows for the week is of course Dank Sinatra, Cosmic Charlie’s Dark Side of the Dead, Jimmy Herring and Blues Night w/ Big C (this is the one year anniversary of this show).
Something to look at:

Hey there,
Wow, I can’t believe it is less than two weeks before the Wild Rumpus! BTW Timi used my recording from last year’s show to make the Kite to the Moon video on the Wild Rumpus web site. He mastered it and it really sounds great. I would love to do all the shows I post that way but don’t have time. I’d love to hear from anyone out there interested in helping. I can provide computer and software.

A quick update, a great festival and Leftover Salmon downloads

Hey there,
A quick update. Caroline Aiken is not playing at Front Porch Book Store Sat. She is playing in Nashville and canceled her show here but Flagpole still posted it.
There is a great festival coming up Oct 20th The Slow Water Music Festival, here is info:
The Slow Water site:
More good news, y’all know I have been recommending my friends in Lazy Locomotive (check out their show on my site, not their usual show, 1st set all covers 2nd set almost all originals) well they are going to be the opening act for New Riders of the Purple Sage Oct 26th at New Earth. Not bad for a band that started a couple months ago.
Last but definitely not least, thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts regarding Siam passing. To show how your good thoughts manifested, yesterday I called several times to GA Theatre trying to find  out if Leftover Salmon would allow recording and always received news that they didn’t. I took my recording equipment into town but left it in car in case I wanted to record a show after Leftover. When I gave my credit card to the girl in the ticket booth she handed it back and said someone earlier had given her an extra ticket and she gifted me with it. As I am shaking hands with John the bartended starting to relate my good fortune with the ticket Vince Herman of Leftover walks by. I relayed how much I enjoyed their show at Wanee and asked if I could record and he said yes. Check my web site I posted it today. As I was checking Leftover’s web site for Vince’s name to include in this email, I found a link for a FREE download of two CDs, 28 tracks, covering the 20 years Leftover Salmon has been around:  you will have to look around it is in 4 pieces. BTW this is one of the best band sites I’ve come across, well thought out and crafted. They tell you about the free downloads but you have to read about the band to find the pieces. Those of you in a band making a web page should take notes.
Anyway, to make a long story longer, your good karma has come full circle back to you in the form of the free music. Enjoy!
Thanks again.
Peace and Love,

Music This Week Oct 9th thru Oct 16th

Hey there,
Great news!

DANK SINATRA is performing Fri Nov 2nd at 5:30pm at Terrapin Beer Co.for the 2nd fundraiser for the 35th Athens Human Rights Festival !!! I can’t think of a better way to start  Homecoming weekend,
This has not been a stellar week for me with the Braves, Dawgs and Green Bay Packers loosing (the Falcons were the only bright spot) and I had to put down my 16 year old cat Siam (pronounced Sam with a GA accent ie two syllables). Lazy Locomotive helped Sat with a fantastic show and I’m counting on Leftover Salmon tonight to bring up my spirits.
I’ll concentrate on the positive. Nuçi’s Space is having a FREE party Fri for their 12th anniversary. They are also the beneficiary of a three day run of shows at Caledonia Lounge Thurs thru Sat, please support them however you can. It is a great cause, the people at Nuçi’s Space really are trying to make a difference in a lot of peoples lives. They are also hosting the MBUS Rock of Ages show Sat.
Here is something I found interesting, it is kind of long and the best part is about 6 minutes in but I thought it was very good:
BTW lots of new shows posted at  Enjoy!

Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012

Tonight I’m definitely going to Leftover Salmon, they were one of my favorite shows at Wanee. I watched them in the pouring down rain, they took a break during the heaviest rain and started again. I recorded a little of the second part and was walking out of the Mushroom stage to record Gov’t Mule but Salmon was so good I couldn’t leave. Here is a great recording of that show Wed I’m try to catch Ty Manning’s first set en route to The Revivalists. Thurs again I’ll try to catch the first set of Jazz Jam with Bob before going to Connected Houses. Fri I’ll start at Nuçi’s 12th anniv. party then to Abbey Road Live, if you haven’t seen them and like the Beatles, Don’t Miss this show. Sat I’m really busy but hope to catch
Kate Morrissey, Coconut Moon then to the Lakers. Sun I’ll try to catch Blues at Ten Pins. Mon I’ll definitely be at Suex Effect’s CD release party. Tues I’ll try to catch Ike’s 1st set before Adam Payne’s show with Betsy.
I hope to see y’all at the shows.

Music This Week Oct 3rd thru Oct.9th

 Hey there,

Just in case you missed it, we set a record at Terrapin for the largest 2 hour tour night crowd. When I throw a party I don’t do it half way! They have had larger crowds but that was when they had half or all day events like the Hop Harvest Festival coming up this Sat. I highly recommend attending. Thank you again to Jessica and Rainey at Terrapin and Eric Haas for the PA (if your band needs a PA for a show, contact me and I’ll give you his number). Also thank you for Tina Sais for the poster and especially to Cosmic Charlie. Unfortunately people were not aware that AHRF received nothing from the sale of the beer glasses so the donations were not as much as we had hoped. If anyone would like to make a donation they can do so at:
I have posted the show so people can hear the incredible performance of Cosmic Charlie at:
Here is the link to the pictures Rebekah Skinner from Spotted Online Athens took:

BTW all the links to music to play should be working now, please let me know any problems you find.
Here is Ben Folds Five (musicians not mathematicians) on Colbert. Good but we have better right here in Athens.—-do-it-anyway
Here is something I found very interesting, light painting:
