Thank you

Hey there,
Thank you  to Jessica and Rainey at Terrapin and everyone who helped and/or attended the AHRF fundraiser at Terrapin. 840 people bought the beer glasses so probably well over 1000 people attended since there were a lot of younger people there as well. We only raised $542 and would not have received that much except that Cosmic Charlie generously donated all their proceeds from playing. We received $16 in donation from two children making bracelets! Also Brian’s hot dogs and Juan’s empanadas  donated portions of their sales and Eric Haas of Fifth Records & Radio provided the PA free.
Unfortunately people were not aware that AHRF received nothing from the sale of the beer glasses so the donations were not as much as we had hoped. If anyone would like to make a donation they can do so at:
I have posted the show so people can hear the incredible performance of Cosmic Charlie at:

If you enjoyed this show with us and didn’t know it was a fundraiser, or didn’t have cash, or for any other reason you didn’t make a donation, and any of you hearing this for the first time, here is your chance to donate. All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Music This Week Tonight Sept 25th thru Oct 2nd

Hey there,
A quick announcement. Please check out the Play Music page on my website:
This is just the first pass at playing the music from web site, lots more to come.
WOW what a week for music, some of my favorite bands are coming through Athens this week. A lot of folks from California will be in town  from Beats Antique to Pigs on the Wing . Of course my favorite pick is COSMIC CHARLIE this Fri at Terrapin 5pm for the AHRF fundraiser, but then again I have a vested interest and I am a devout Deadhead. Get there early, doors open for this show at 5pm. It will be over before 8pm so plenty of time to get to Pigs on the Wing or any other show  Fri. night
Some breaking news from Ann of the Tiger Girlz:
Kite to the Moon’s very own Tiger Girlz  is opening for Beats Antique Wednesday, September 26.  Timi is playing in Atlanta, (Pigs on the Wing is coming to Athens at the end of the week)  so the ladies have been let off the leash, we have smashed our tiger cages, and we are hungry!  Expect all new aerial acts, new costumes, and new floor acts.  This is going to be a great night from the beginning to the end at The GA Theater.
I had the good fortune to hear Beats Antique’s new EP Contraption Vol 2, what a great treat from the haunting opening violin to the end this is a solid album I highly recommend. I would not be surprised if Cirque du Soleil approached them to use it as the musical score for one of their shows. Beats Antique creates a mesmerizing soundscape that is original, ever changing, never boring mix of different genres. I was especially pleased to hear Lynx sing on one of the tracks and even happier to find out she is also performing with Beats at the GATH show. The Colony Collapse – Filistine track makes me think of the music playing that switched on the final four cylons in Battlestar Galactica. Definitely check out Beats Antique with the Tiger Girlz and Lynx at GATH Wed and pick up this album, you won’t be disappointed. Remember the music is only part of the show, expect a thoroughly entertaining musical and visual show. A Don’t Miss!

Music This Week Tonight Sept 19th thru Sept 22nd and some downloads

Hey there,
Sorry this is so late, I was out last night putting up posters for the AHRF fundraiser at Terrapin next Fri Sept 28th 5:30 – 7:30pm FREE show with COSMIC CHARLIE!!!
(If you would like to help I have attached the poster to this email so please print and distribute freely! Thanks).
Check my web site later this week, I will be posting a lot of music to listen to without having to download first.
This is going to be a very abbreviated music recommendations email, I will list most of the DON’T Miss shows, There is, as always, too many great shows on the same night so please any one with a recorder try to help me and record the shows I miss. There is also a ton of new bands playing that I have not had the time to research. My rule of thumb is if a new band has someone in it  I know then it is easier from me to recommend as quality musicians play with others of their caliber. If you check out any shows and think them worthy of a mention, please pass that info along to me.
I also want to bring two things to your attention for next week. First, Beats Antique will be playing at GA Theatre Wed 26th I highly recommend this show. Electronica and experimental world fusion music is as good a description as any but don’t put them in a box thinking you know what their show will be like. This is a show where the music is just one of the layers of the show, its like an orgasm, you can’t describe it, you have to experience it. Check out their info at  Be sure to download Skeleton Key and the Mixtape for a taste of what to expect musically.
Second, try to make plans for a short road trip and campout for the Sautee Jamboree 2012
Caroline Aiken, Col Bruce Hampton, Sol Driven Train are just a taste of a great lineup. Two days of shows Sept 28th & 29th, check out the info at and

Here are some new downloads I had hoped for time to edit and master but these are just the raw recordings. Anyone out there wanting to learn how to do the mastering I’ll be glad to set you up with a system to use or if you already know how I’d appreciate any help doing it. I’m sure you can tell by listening the recordings could be improved.

Music This Week Sept 11th thru Sept 18th

 Hey there,
On this day, the anniversary of 9/11, I thought It appropriate to talk about human rights. For over 34 years a group of people in Athens have been trying to do their part in stopping ALL wars and raising awareness on issues regarding human rights. Who knows, if more of us had paid a little more attention to these issues we may not  be marking this day as we do. Athens is unique in that we are the ONLY city to have an organization like this. The problem is that a lot of the people in the organization, who started out as college students as most of you are now, are getting to the point where it is time to start to pass the torch on to a younger generation. I personally am pleased to see signs of the same spirit the AHRF started from in this generation of college students. I hope you will step up and join us in our efforts to make this planet a better place.
In case you haven’t heard, there are two fundraisers for the 35th Annual Athens Human Rights Festival May 5th and 6th, 2013. COSMIC CHARLIE will be performing at the first one on Sept 28th at Terrapin.Ber Co. I am very pleased to announce DANK SINATRA will be performing at the second fundraiser Nov 2nd. also at Terrapin.
I am also very pleased to announce I have made another step in improving the web site, I have figured out how to link the files so you can play the music instead of having to download it first. I think it fitting the first post I’ve done that way is this year’s 34th AHRF. Here is the whole festival, two days of speakers and music. I hope you not only enjoy the music but please listen to the speakers. There are a number of important issues they address. Please get involved. Lets not have any more anniversaries like this one.

Music This Week Sept 5th thru Sept 11th and a download

Hey there,
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Labor Day.
The good news is I’m getting closer to getting the music to play on the website. Right now you can listen to the Odd Trio in the posts and to Breathlanes when you are in the Music Archive. The bad news is I’m going to have to cut down on my recording, I’m falling way behind with editing and posting. Instead of 5-6 nights a week, I’ll probably do around 3-4.
Here is a great download. I only had time to track the 1st set:
The Odd Trio @ Hendershot’s 8-30-12
Here is something to watch:
This makes me smile, animals can have fun too!  I would definitely do this:

Listen to The Odd Trio at Hendershot’s 8-30-12

Hey there,
One step at a time, I’ve at least figured out how to play music in a post. This is still a long way from how this site will work. Please be patient, I’ll figure it out, I just need time.
I really felt bad that there was such a sparse turnout for some of the greatest music played this week. Here is the Odd Trio show, the first set it split into tracks, the second is not. This is a quite show, you may want to crank up the volume. Prepare yo be amazed when you hear how tight these incredible musicians perform, then factor in they had only one rehearsal since May, they took the summer off. Imagine what they could do when they practice!
Please let me know what you think or this change.
