Music This Week July 25th thru July 31st and a download

Hey there,

I am still woefully behind with everything so I haven’t had time to surf the web for interesting stuff to share. There is some great news however, Ike Stubblefield is featured in a article in an upcoming issue of Keyboard Magazine and The Odd Trio’s Birth of the Minotaur debuted on th CMJ top jazz chart as the #1 newly added album. (I keep featuring them in my emails, y’all really need to go to see them, incredible musicians. They won’t be playing  this month but will be back the last Thurs in August).
Does anyone out there have knowledge of Word Press web site software they would be willing to share with me? I have written and used hundreds of different types of software over the decades and have never come across any as obtuse, irrational and ill conceived as Word Press..I usually master any software in a matter of minutes or hours at most. I have spent days trying to figure it out and the only conclusion I can come to is it was created to keep web site designers in business.
On a lighter note and nothing to do with music, the crop of Olathe corn is now coming in to Krogers. In case you don’t know about Olathe corn it is the sweetest and takes the longest time to convert the sugar in it to starch. It is only available at Krogers as they have an exclusive on the entire crop, it comes from Colorado and with the bad weather out there it won’t be available long, don’t dawdle. In case you don’t know, the way to tell if corn is fresh is to pull open the husk and pop a kernel, if the juice is clear it is fresh and full of sugar If the juice is the milky it is older and most of the sugar has converted to starch.
Another thing, it is the time of year to make cuttings of azaleas, sasanquas and camellias.

Important news, the final Camp Amped Showcase this summer is tomorrow, Sat July 21st. , at Nuci’s Space 7pm. Don’t miss it. If you don’t know about Camp Amped Here is video proof that you shouldn’t miss Camp Amped
This video does a great job showing you the crowded, hot ,sweaty, HIGH energy, FUN time at a Camp Amped show. It doesn’t do justice sonically. These kids are really good musicians and I hope to capture that with my recordings this Sat.

I really wouldn’t think of leaving the Bungle in the Jungle except for a show like this. I hope y’all come out to support these kids and if you can please donate to Nuci’s Space. This is just one of the more visible aspects of all the great work they do there. If nothing else just thank any of the local musicians there who donated their time and talents to make this magic happen.
I hope to see you there.
Peace and Love,

A quick update and a download

Hey there,
A quick update, boy send out an email and everyone crawls out of the woodwork and lets you  know what you missed. Here are two examples.
SNAP! @ Nowhere Bar 11pm Thurs. FREE!!!
Groove, New Orleans, Latin, Blues, and Funk >   featuring both Benji Shanks and David Yoke on guitars, Jason Fuller on keys.
Sweet Knievel  @ Nowhere Bar 11pm Sat. FREE!!!
These are two shows I’m really glad I found out about. I highly recommend both and will rearrange my schedule to attend both shows.
BTW if your band is at Nowhere it is always a good idea to do contact Flagpole yourself. Nowhere doesn’t do announcements. It would also be helpful to me to let me know before I send out my email so I don’t have to clutter up in boxes with updates. 😉
Also, I said I learned how to split the shows into separate tracks, I didn’t say I did it yet. The last two downloads I posted in email are still full show downloads. Here is the first show I split available for download: breathlanes @ Office 7-14-12

Peace and Love,

Music This Week July 18th thru July 24th and some downloads

Hey there,
Advanced notice, Cosmic Charlie in Atlanta July 29th @ 5th Annual Jerry Day. Celebrate the life and music of Jerry Garcia, 12 bands.
I finally got a chance to RTFM (read the f-ing manual) and now know how to split shows into separate tracks, levelize and normalize the music so now you will be able to download individual tracks instead of the whole show. I still need the bands to send me the set lists, since I don’t have that info.
This should be a great week for music. Three things I’d like to highlight. First on Fri Jim Wilson is finally debuting Taxicab Verses his multi year, multi continent project with musicians in Ghana. I have been waiting on this for a long time. Next is another benefit for Skate Park of Athens on Sat. Finally Slopfest is back at Little Kings Thurs thru Sat.

Music This Week July 4th thru July 10th Happy 4th and Important news!

 Hey there,

Happy 4th of July!!!       Happy birthday Momma!!!
Important news!!!  Live Music Athens GA is now hiring!!!
We are hiring general managers, web site designers, sales and marketing managers, booking agents, recording engineers and studios.  Really were looking for anybody that can help us take this business model to the next level.  BTW another important note.  I never said we were paying anyone we hire!  The good news is you’ll be starting out at exactly the same salary as I am, nothing!  I will however structure everything so that when the money does start coming in, you’ll be the first one paid, whoever you are! Please contact me ASAP.
You’ll notice that the music archive is under construction. that is because I felt the music was too exposed on the Internet, too much of it in an one small place and I am trying to protect the musicians rights to the music. What I am going to do is to have a system where you’ll have to be registered user to download the music  but anyone on the e-mail list now will automatically be a registered user. I just have to figure out how to do this.  The next step will be to put the music in a new archive with each show divided into individual songs or tunes and labeled with the correct name and tags.  This is where I’m going to need the bands help to start with.  It can be something as simple as telling me the start and end times of a particular song and a song name .I will only have time to cut this music into individual songs and post name I will not have time to do anything else with it. If you have time to edit post as well, that would save me a tremendous amount of work.. It will actually be a first-come first-served basis. If you have the ability to upload the music let me know and I’ll get the originals to you. You  do the editing and uploading. One of things that will be associated with your page with all of your music will be atip jar with all money going to you. Hopefully  instead of just using it for beer money use it to  buy more equipment or even to fund a CD project whatever. You should soon start to reap the benefits, because instead of having a few people around Athens supporting you, you are  going to be in front of millions of people worldwide. That’s what this is about, the synergy we can all bring together in our community, that is what is going to drive this. I will be able to get you on FM radio, I will be able to get you on Internet radio so please get in contact with me. If you are a member of a band please have these discussions with me.  We need to get some sort of legal protection for your music incorporated into this business. By now you should know I am a man of my word. Your word is something that is that sacred, it is something that is very rare, something that you can give but you have to keep at the same time so it’s something that I’ve taken very seriously and when I give you my word that is stronger than any cadre of lawyers would ever be. But there is going to be other people involved and there is other businesses involved so we need to put protection for your rights as a musician in place. It doesn’t matter if we go online with Internet radios or with a over the air radio or my website  I just want things in place to protect the musicians rights and I’m again going to need people’s help with that so if anybody knows how do this, what to do with this, where I need to get the paperwork or someone that can put together the paperwork, whatever, please contact me as soon as possible.
Another thing I will be doing for bands is getting together with them and getting them the original material from my recordings I’ve made  of their various shows and let them cut into select songs from the different shows and create their own live CD which we will put online for sale.
I haven’t even begun to talk about marketing strategies that is for a future e-mail.
The sooner I can find people to start filling in some of the  job positions and start working taking the workload off me the quicker I can get involved in taking another step forward.
I think the next step should be to pick a time and place for as many of the bands as possible to sit down together with me and have a round table discussion as to the best way to proceed. Please let me know what you think about this and when and where it would be convenient to meet.
